Vitamins, tonics, tinctures, herbs – potions and lotions and formulas for self-care

Vitamins are supplemented by adrenal tonic, rose hip tincture packed with C and my homemade salves and balms.
The real vitamin “bee,” propalis; adrenal tonic, homemade rosehip tincture, the healing balms I craft from what I gather and grow – these, along with herbal teas and infusions are my medicines. I take vitamin suppplements, too: A, B, C, D, calcium, magnesium, lysine, fish oil, turmeric-curcumin and two baby aspirin. Seem like a hassle? not to me. It’s habit. And for me, it works.

Other must-haves in my wellness and beauty arsenal include fresh ginger, which I drink daily in my tea, coconut oil for everything from taking off makeup to oil-pulling for healthy gums, and henna. Gloppy as heck and a pain to apply every six weeks. But I’ve been doing it since my 20s, which makes me a poor candidate for chemical coloring, and besides, as my hairdresser says, it keeps my hair in phenomenal condition. And I confess, I can’t go anywhere without flosspicks. Addicted. And did I mention I adore essential oils, too? Isn’t it great that most of the goodies that make self-care fun are either free or affordable?

WhereverI goI keep an eye out for places to do the kind of movement I enjoy - I overheard the word on a free Yoga class while shopping and the experience led me to another local Yoga studio a couple of days later. I appreciate how the teacher appears when the time is right!

What are your rituals and ingredients for self-care? I’d love to hear about the traditional or better yet weird, fun or unexpected things you include in your routine. Who knows? If it sounds interesting and at the very least harmless, I might give it a try and report back to you!
